Reclaiming the Past. Reimagining the Future.

Dr. Jarvis C. McInnis is an Associate Professor of English at Duke University. A scholar of African American & African Diaspora literatures and culture, his work bridges history, memory, and imagination, centering Black voices across time and space.  As the author of Afterlives of the Plantation, McInnis reexamines the plantation not just as a site of trauma, but as a space of cultural production, resistance, and possibility. Through his writing, teaching, and public scholarship, he invites us to look back with clarity and forward with vision.
